YukonData.com is the new occupancy data collection portal developed by TIA Yukon in conjunction with Outcrop Yukon.

What are we expecting to accomplish?
The goal of this project is to have the best tourism data possible to support marketing and business development decisions for the Yukon Tourism Industry.

TIA Yukon is initiating an occupancy collection procedure that has the participation of the majority of the Yukon accommodations industry (including camping).

All the information collected from the operators will be kept confidential. The industry, government and any other stakeholders will only have access to summary reports with summaries of data collected. No specifiic operator will be identified, nor individual operator detailed data divulged to anyone but that operator.

Benefits
Participating operators will have access to their information with a comparison to the Yukon averages in their category (not by size or community). Tools will be provided to facilitate new tracking/record keeping methods. This program will develop and grow in participation and sophistication over time.

Overview
The Tourism Industry has discussed and speculated the viability of regulated or industry-led occupancy data collection for many years. Since November 2004 TIA Yukon has been working with Economic Development, Bureau of Statistics, Tourism and Culture and industry to design a formula to access tourism industry economic impact figures.

Currently the only data available includes a Visitor Exit Survey (every five years), Border Crossings and individual conversion reports per marketing activity. The value of collecting occupancy data with average room rates will provide valuable insight into trends, soft seasons or gaps and will contribute to a greater tourism economic impact model.
